There’s no question that the momentum of history is on the side of Same Sex Marriage. Proponents of equality say today’s LGBT struggle is simply an extension of the civil rights movement. From TV shows to the President declaring his “evolved” opinion on the matter, it seems that our overall culture is moving slowly but surely into the pro camp. We wanted to know what the Tokii community was thinking about the issue, and when we asked, you answered. A huge portion of our community (40% of men and a whopping 68% of women) see it as a non-issue, but a quarter of our men that were asked, think homosexuality is an affront to God.
It’s not an easy issue, and it runs to the core of religious convictions, cultural communication and individual freedoms. It’s not going to be solved overnight, but dialogue, no matter your beliefs or convictions, is the only way to build consensus, empathy and progress. So whatever your beliefs, keep listening and keep talking. We’ve certainly overcome more complicated issues than this one, and we’ll have more still to overcome in the future.
