With the recent announcement of the demise of TomKat, we wonder who’s in the pipeline for the increasingly less desirable role of Mrs, or indeed, Mr. Cruise? After a lifetime of high profile relationships; including three marriages to figures in the public eye, it’s widely considered likely that his next unfortunate victim – ahem – lucky potential love interest, will also be a famous face.

Enjoying brief encounters with Brooke Shields and Kelly Preston during the 80’s, he went on to wed Mimi Rogers in a short-lived marriage – she infamously described Tom as not quite being “sexual napalm” in the bedroom department… Tom then got hitched to Aussie actress Nicole Kidman and despite a pairing which was renowned for its relative stability – in a world where bed hopping and partner swapping is as standard as bread’n'honey – the couple divorced in 2001 with speculation rife over Nicole cheating and fertility problems.

There wasn’t a great deal of official noise after the breakup, although the couple had adopted two children and there were whispers around Hollywood that Nicole had been carrying somebody else’s child – resulting in Tom filing for divorce; furious, his own virility an issue… When pressed on reasons for the split, he simply replied “She knows”. Cryptic, no?

A-ha you say! But what about Suri Cruise?! We’ve seen some crazy rumors fly around about Tom and baby-mama Katie Holmes’ pairing, right from the get-go… A speculated marriage contract involved all sorts of bizarre clauses; financial incentives for Katie to get breeding and an uncompromising control of fundamental aspects of Katie’s life, including her religious inclinations; bringing us back – yet again – to the hugely controversial Scientology.

The fact that he and Nicole didn’t have biological children together and she went onto give birth to a daughter with her current husband Keith Urban, did nothing to squash rumors that Suri’s paternity may be in question. The notoriously trashy National Enquirer has even audaciously hinted that Suri may be the biological offspring of Katie’s ex American Pie star, Chris Klein… While we’re more than a little skeptical over these claims, there’s undoubtedly a whole lot more going on behind those closed doors than we’re aware of. Oh, to be a fly on the wall of the Cruise household…

Anyway – now Katie’s officially become a New Yorker and her estranged hubby is back in California, a reconciliation is looking about as likely as Tom publicly seeking therapy for a Prozac addiction…

So we’re wondering – who’ll be keeping Tom warm at night? And who’s likely to replace him in Katie’s affections?

With Tom’s history, taking into consideration his relationship with Penelope Cruz and reported encounters with mega-hottie Sophia Vergara, it’s likely his next arm-candy will be physically stunning with a feisty sense of presence.

This, unfortunately, is where expert Dr Ava Cadell believes he’s going wrong, telling Fox News; “Katie was very young when she married him, and I think that she has grown – mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually – and she’s become her own person,” said Cadell. “She’s decided that she doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life with this character–with the qualities that he has–that are going to impact her child.”

“I think he enjoys being treated like a king, like most men, but it’s important for him to remain the alpha male in his relationship,” she says. “So, he needs a woman who is comfortable being somewhat submissive.” Taking his strong beliefs into consideration, it’s also important that his next partner is comfortable with his religion; he’s made it crystal clear it’s something he’s not willing to compromise on…

With speculation that his Rock of Ages co-star Julianne Hough has a major crush on him, even telling PopCrush “… he is the sexiest thing I have seen, besides my boyfriend,” she giggled. Julianne’s been dating American Idol host Ryan Seacrest for the past couple of years – based on her response though, it doesn’t sound as though she’d mind too much, leaving Ryan all at sea and climbing aboard the SS. Cruise…

And gay dating site, Manhunt has offered Tom a lifelong membership, should he wish to partake in their particular variety of romance. They do say not to knock what you haven’t tried. Although we’re tempted to suspect Mr Cruise may, at some point, have sampled some man-wares…

What about Katie? It seems with the divorce and securing full custody of Suri, it may be best to conserve her energy  – Tom sounds like something of a powerhouse for getting what he wants so she hasn’t had that in awhile. Though, we’re pretty sure – particularly based on her latest image overhaul – she needn’t spend too many lonely nights weeping into her pillow.

Either way – whoever wins the heart of either of this former super-couple’s remains better have some strong arms – ‘cause these guys come laden with a helluva lotta baggage.

Selma: We all know Tom has always been in a relationship, he does not stay single for too long. He needs to make sure he covers up the “real him” with a picture perfect wife, if you know what I mean *wink wink*.  I’m sure the next one will be submissive like usual and bow down to all his rules and beliefs.  I can already hear the wedding bells.  The next  woman better make sure she is willing to give up her beliefs and totally submit to Tom.   Giulia: I really think most women who have ‘been there.. done that’ with Tom have dodged a really serious bullet. There is very little doubt in my mind he bats for the same team but that’s not going to stop him from hunting his next… well… shy up-and-coming actress to boss around.
