Good news for guys!  One of Hollywood’s most eligible and envy-worthy bachelors is about to go off the market.  Justin Timberlake is soon set to marry the gorgeous Jessica Biel, possibly within the month.  While this may come as sad news for a generation of young women, many guys are ready to see him go.  For years we’ve had to watch him romance some of the entertainment industry’s hottest ladies.  As he’s matured over the years, some say so has his choice in companion.  Still, as the special (and confidential) date approaches, others remain skeptical of the whole affair.

He’s been a consistently lucky guy, alright – and one with a much-storied past.  Yet despite the tsunami of media coverage constantly circling his love life, few skeletons have been unearthed.  This ongoing lack of taint only plays in to his carefully crafted and seemingly genuine image as an All-American boy-next-door.  One with an estimated net worth of $70M.

He certainly seemed to find a perfect match for his public persona in Britney Spears, both of them fresh faces from Disney’s revamped The Mickey Mouse Club.  “I was in love with her from the start,” he said, “infatuated with her from the moment I saw her.”  As their singing careers each rocketed beyond all reasonable expectations, the two remained closely attached for 3 years.  This despite insane schedules on separate tours.  Somehow they seemed to make it work – until something suddenly happened.  Exactly what that was has never been made clear.

Some say she cheated, others say she just changed, but they almost all seem to agree on it being her fault.  Many now consider their split an important bellwether of trouble ahead for Spears.  A few years after the break he opened up a bit, telling Vanity Fair, “We were two birds of the same feather – small-town kids, doing the same thing.  But then you become adults, and the way you were as kids doesn’t make any sense.”  As to whether both have actually reached adulthood remains an open question.

While he vigorously played the field after Britney, Timberlake made a concerted effort to keep his love life out of the headlines, rarely commenting on the subject.  That proved a viable tactic when dating essentially anonymous models or actresses, but that wouldn’t fly when he hooked up with another Hollywood heavyweight.  Cameron Diaz met the boy wonder at the 2003 Kid’s Choice Awards, and from all accounts sparks seemed to immediately fly.  Despite a nine-year age difference, the pairing once again seemed right out of central casting.  The two were together for nearly four years, dodging cameras and controversy throughout.  It was less then two weeks after they broke things off that Timberlake was first linked to Biel.  The two reportedly attended a Golden Globes Awards after party where a dust-up occurred with Diaz.  Apparently no one seemed to hold a grudge, and the pair teamed back up for last year’s Bad Teacher.

As for Jessica Biel, many have questioned what prompted such a radical shift in personality type, considering the outgoing natures of Spears, Diaz and Timberlake.  By comparison, Biel is seen as much more muted.  Is Justin ready for a more quiet lifestyle?  Doubtful.  Few believe Justin has tired of the rock star lifestyle, even if it was built on bubble gum pop.  He shows no signs of slowing down, only settling down.  People will deviate from their usual dating patterns, and often right before getting married.

Then there’s the slightly schizophrenic nature of their relationship.  A number of splits, including an announced one last March even had some speculating that he might return to Diaz, or possibly even Britney.  Instead the two slowly began dating again, and last December he proposed, which stunned many insiders.  “She is the single-handedly most significant person in my life”, he told OK Magazine.  “In my 30 years, she is the most special person…I don’t want to say much more, because I have to protect things that are dear to me — for instance, her.”

He’s been lucky alright.  When asked a few years ago about his ongoing string of good fortune, with both women and profession, he told Access Hollywood, “I just feel like lighting kind of keeps striking for me. So, I must have done something crazy good in a past life.”  Or maybe he signed a pact with the devil, who knows.  Either way, while many in Hollywood are congratulating the couple, they seem to be doing so while scratching their heads a bit.
