They Lived Happily Ever After. Or Did They?

Tokii does Fairy tales:

The Prince Charming myth exposed!

Fairy tales have hit the mainstream in a big way. The stories we’ve all grown up with are being spun into Hollywood blockbusters and sexed-up versions of characters like Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood are as big of a craze as Vampires were a year ago. Fairy tales are based on some pretty contradictory values. They teach us to have high standards when it comes to choosing our princes, but they set us up for disappointment when it turns out that perfect men only exist in the movies. I’ve been married for twelve years, my husband treats me like a princess and I absolutely love it. We’re not perfect and we have our problems (Mrs. Workaholic & Mr. Hypochondriac over here), but we work together very well. My husband may not be slaying dragons or breaking spells to rescue me, but he fills up the gas tank, drives me to my appointments and most importantly, he loves me. We learn from each other in a million different ways, and I’d take that over a tall, dark and handsome prince any day.

We’re all about fairy tales this week. We’re sharing our thoughts on what they mean, why we love them, and how they’re sexier than we give them credit for. The fact is, we all write our own fairy tales. What will yours be?

ASK STEVE If Disney Princesses are a man’s sexy bedtime fantasy, how should he go about asking his woman to get into some role-play fit for cartoon royalty? Steve gives our readers some racy advice on how to make all of their fairy tale sex dreams come true.

ASK DR. JOY I’m an avid fan of fantasy novels, TV and films. But, now that they’re in my head, I’m starting to have sexual fantasies about werewolves, vampires, wizards and all types of weird folk. Have I gone over the edge?

KNIGHTS IN SHINING ARMOUR: MYTH VS. REALITY If your future prince shows up on foot rather than in a horse-drawn carriage, don’t think of it as settling. I feel women expect too many aspects of the fairy tale life. There is a happy medium between fairy tales and reality and the right man can help you find it!PRINCE

CHARMING IS A LOAD OF BULLSHIT Princess Diana is a textbook example of the Cinderella dream gone awry. As Lady Di said, it’s hard to be in a marriage of three people. Prince Charles’ long time lover, Camilla, was the world’s most famous third wheel.

SNOW WHITE’S LOSS OF INNOCENCE Whether it’s on television, the big screen or in a comic book, audiences are cheering for their favorite fairy tale characters from childhood. The difference is, these updated versions of characters aren’t just heroes and villains, they are complex characters who deal with sexual temptations and gory acts of violence. This says a great deal about our current culture.

SEX, LIES AND FAIRY TALES Red Riding Hood didn’t wait around to be rescued by the patriarchal huntsman. In one of the earliest known versions of the story, the wolf forced Red to do a striptease for him before coaxing her into bed with him.

REALITY CHECK: FAIRY TALES VS. REAL LIFE These days, women living in the Western world have a lot more agency and a little less tolerance for narcissists; dragon slayers they may be. It seems as though romantic fairytales are in dire need of a 21st century makeover.

Until next time,

I love Tokii for many reasons, but what you do best is breaking topics open to reveal their hidden secrets. Debunking the fairy tale myths has been a great theme lately. With all of these new movies mixing up the fairy tales even more, some poor folks could be more confused than ever! Read through Tokii’s amazing articles and see the light! Prince charming? does he really exist? Is he a frog with puckered lips? or a wolf in sheep’s clothing? Tokii can help!
