Reports of Leonardo DiCaprio’s newes
t squeeze – and her occupation – call to mind the old cliché of a certain type of man who exclusively dates a certain type of woman: models. But are the first thoughts we assume, that of superficiality reigning supreme, true? Or could there be something more to the allure of a pretty face and gorgeous figure? While scientists and researchers have yet to pull Leonardo into a little room and grill him about his dating choices, for he has a history of model girlfriends, there exists dating research and interviews to suggest there might be more than meets the eye to obvious assumptions.
In a Glamour magazine blog post Shallon Lester defends men who date models based on her own experience. From the awkward, uncomfortable posing to being told what to do at every juncture, she claims models must have resolution(s) of steel to consistently do it full time. In an interview with GQ magazine, Adriana Lima, one of the world’s top models, exposits her beliefs in how a man should behave in a dating scenario. She knows what she wants and doesn’t take less. Perhaps it’s time we give models a little more credit, and their partners too. It looks like confidence, intelligence and a strong work ethic are part of the job description.
In a dating study, executed by economist Ray Fishman, he states that while looks are certainly part of the dating game and they seem to be more important to men than women, in real life who we date is a function of who we meet. This gives food for thought when it comes to the celebrity male and successful model pair. They run in similar circles, likely share friends, colleagues and attend the same social events. It’s possible that Leonardo’s dating history is a function of his respect for strong women, and social circumstances, rather than just a shallow desire to be with a “beautiful” woman. Though we don’t doubt he enjoys their physical presence as much as their brains. We wish him and Erin Heatherton the best!

They do make a beautiful couple. Hopefully, the beauty is shared in friendship and honoring one another too.
it’s easy to assume models are airheads, but that rarely is the case. look at gisele and tom brady! she’s strong, opinionated and beautiful, pretty much the perfect combo for a man used to being in charge and catered to… it probably feels great to find someone with a backbone!
why do beautiful women date men who are not so attractive? i think women really seem to look deeper than appearances more than men do. i know leonardo has done some really amazing work, but i find him so unattractive! lol, oh well, to each his own
